Story

We are organising our next #Compete4Connor fundraising event which will be a 'fun' football tournament taking place at Wimborne Town Football Club on Saturday 23 July at 2.00 pm.  Some of the teams will be competing in fancy dress playing alongside the Poole Hospital Physiotherapists and other family and/or work based teams.

Please support us by either donating to this page or by being part of the day and coming down to cheer us all on.  There will also be a couple of stalls available for cakes and raffles.

As most of you know, sport was a huge part of Connor's life and it was devastating for him to find out when he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma that that he would not be able to play competitive football or run again.

Connor was referred to the Poole Children's Physiotherapy Department at the start of his diagnosis and they did everything they could to try and motivate him throughout his treatment so that he would be able to continue to participate in some kind of sport.  Connor's treatment plan was very harsh and the physios had to find some ingenious ways to keep up his enthusiasm when he was in a lot of pain and suffering from the gruelling side effects of chemotherapy.

The physios went well beyond the care and duties that you would expect and as a way to thank them, we would like to raise some much  needed funds in Connor's memory to provide equipment for this Department that will continue to help other children facing similar challenges. The physios have a 'wish list' of equipment which will be used to benefit children who find physiotherapy particularly challenging.   This equipment can be used for children suffering with all types of conditions and can bring some fun into their treatment and will be really useful for the less enthusiastic patients.

We are so grateful to the children's physios at Poole Hospital as they managed to motivate Connor enough so that he was able to return to football training, albeit for a short period, before the cancer sadly returned.  This was so important to him.
