My name is Chris Walker I am a funeral director at C M Walkers funeral services in Felling Gateshead Tyne and Wear. Over the years due to the nature of my work I have came into contact with many families whose loved ones have received care from the  macmillan nurses, without doubt they have all said the care their loved ones received was excellent and wholly compassionate. Having had two family members and a friend cared for by the macmillan charities I can only echo those sentiments. What astonished me is that this excellent charity relies on donations from the public for 98% of  its funding, (what ? ) I am sure we could all be forgiven for thinking the state would fund most of this vital cause. Not so. In the year 2006 I did lands end to john o groats for charity (bike and tent-brilliant) in 2012 we did john o groats to lands end as a relay in 57.4 hours and raised over £1500.00 for the macmillan nurses, this year the goal is...

135 miles in one day from Whitehaven to South Tyneside. HAIL, RAIN or SHINE !  Pain awaits for a great cause.
