In April 2014 I was diagnosed at 29 years old with a very agressive form of breast cancer with a much poorer prognosis than other types of breast cancer- Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

Since finding out about my diagnosis I have had 6 rounds of chemotherapy from June - September 2014 and I completely lost my long hair and all my body hair, I then had my left breast and all my lymph nodes under my arm removed in October 2014. I expected to go on to have radiotherapy but when they looked at the cancer they removed during my operation in the lab, they decided that it had not responded as well as they had initially hoped it would and advised me that I needed further chemotherapy to try to prevent my cancer coming back. 

So that's what I'm doing now. Last week I was admitted to hospital with severe head pain and loss of vision and was in Nottingham City Hospital for 8 days mostly in a state of unconsciousness due to pain and the doctors were unsure if the cancer had spread, they ran a number of tests over the course of a week but unfortunately they could not obtain results from my samples so I will have to hope for the best without any solid answers.

I still can't see properly and am exhausted but whilst I was in hospital I saw some upsetting and scary scenes around me- a lady in the bed opposite me died. I saw people crying in agony from the pain of their advanced cancer, loneliness, fear, isolation and sadness. I thought I was going to die when I was there, I said goodbye to my family and told them what to do with my things, I felt the fear and isolation from cancer deep within my soul. I felt lost and alone. 

I am fundraising because I want to help others with cancer to have support and hopefully aim to stop them from feeling the way that I did when I was in hospital. I'm currently still having chemotheraphy and then I have to have radiotherapy and further surgery but I will be completing this race to fundraise for Macmillan...
