Sadly, on Friday 27th March 2020, our wonderful dad and mum's loyal and loving husband, Richard Church, passed away. He bravely took the decision to stop receiving treatment for pneumonia, whilst under the care of the fabulous staff at Kingston Hospital. As many of you will know, dad had been diagnosed with a respiratory disease which we knew was life limiting and he had been finding life difficult for a little while. We're all so proud of him for taking control of the last moments of his life, rather than succumb further to a disease that would lead to him needing full time care in the very near future. He passed away peacefully and comfortably.
The funeral is on April 22nd and will be a very small ceremony (family only) due to these different and difficult times that we find ourselves in. For those of you who would like to pay their respects to this gentle man, we ask that you make a donation to East Molesey Cricket Club instead of sending any flowers to the service. Dad was a keen cricketer in his youth with Molesey Hurst Cricket Club and in his later years he took great delight in umpiring at the great 'Wilderness' sports club for the Sunday teams and in more recent years, watching his grandchildren play in the colt and senior teams at EMCC. He was also known to volunteer to score or umpire there too if needed! He spent many afternoons and evenings at EMCC enjoying the atmosphere, the cricket (and the wine!) and chatting away to friends about anything and everything. Supporting the club at this time feels like a fitting way to celebrate his life. Rest in peace dad. You will be missed so much by all those who were fortunate to know you. With thanks from his family - Sandra, Sarah and Matthew x x x
