The "Cheverest" Challenge!
On Sat 15th & Sun 16th July, the 🦓 Otley Zebras U13s 🏉 Rugby Team will be undertaking their mammoth 🏔️"Cheverest Challenge" 🏔️ on our local hill - the Otley Chevin! The team will be climbing up the North face 18 times, a whopping 20km hike uphill all at an average gradient of 17 degrees!
Why are we doing it?
The boys have a compelling and personal reason for taking on this challenge. One of the players' mothers has recently received an early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and the players and parents alike, have proved truly inspirational in throwing themselves into raising monies for a cure for the disease – with all the proceeds they raise, going to the charity Cure Parkinson's.

🏔️ To take place over 2 days with a night camping over at “Base Camp” (Rugby Club) 15th & 16th July 2023
🏔️ The climb from Everest Base Camp to the summit of Everest is 3484 metres in elevation gain and to climb the Chevin from Station Road to Surprise View past the White House is a 194 meter climb. If we climb the Chevin 18 times we will have “climbed Everest” and trekked nearly 20 uphill kilometers, with an average gradient of 17%!!
🏔️ Get training, get some sponsors and let’s raise money.....to cure Parkinson's Disease!! 💙🧡
We can do 2 days suffering, so others never have to – go Zebras!! 💪🏉
A message from Jamie Peacock!
🏉 The boys are aware of Kevin Sinfield’s and the other Rhino players amazing fundraising feats for the MND charity and a teammate and have grabbed hold of that concept. They are up for the challenge of pushing themselves to help out one of their own teammates’ Mum……..inspiring stuff for an inspiring person!! Here’s what Jamie Peacock (ex Rhino’s and Great Britain Rugby League Captain) had to say to the lads…. 💙🤍
