Story
Hello!
On September 4th, myself and 5 friends will be taking on the most physically demanding challenge of our lives - a relay swim across the English Channel. Yes! There are easier ways of getting to France, but this is not an elaborate way of getting a holiday on the cheap. I'll be swimming in memory of Ed Sherbrooke, who was tragically killed in a car accident in Kenya three years ago, aged 11 yrs old. His family have since set up a charity called EDDIES which aims to develop sports facitlities for deprived children in developing countries. Together with my team-mate, Rosie Sherbrooke, we'll be aiming to raise £6,000 to fund EDDIES Ghana project - all the money raised will go towards specific development and educational projects that will benefit both individuals and communities via sport.
The Channel swim is often called 'The Everest of Swims' because of the endurance required to swim in the 16 degree water, partly at night, encountering 2m waves, industrial waste, jelly fish, basking sharks and (if you believe The Sun) great whites!
The rules state that no wet suits are allowed (only goose fat) and in total, the swim should take us somewhere in between 12 and 20 hours.
None of us have ever done anything like this before (and the chances are we won't be doing it again!). So please dig deep and sponsor me.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Ed donating Devloping Inspiring and Educating through Sport will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you so much for your support!
