About The Charles Causley Trust
The Trust operates for the public benefit in the advancement of education in literature and poetry, in particular the works of Charles Causley and through the maintenance and preservation of Cyprus Well, his former home in Launceston, as a living memorial and writer's retreat. The trust provides grants and writing residencies for potential writers and poets who show literary talent. The Trust works to promote Dr Causley’s legacy through the Charles Causley Festival and other events, open days, and workshops in schools. These activities benefit the public by providing community cohesion as well as bringing revenue to local business through the Charles Causley Festival which is a three-day arts and culture event in Launceston. The Trust also runs a prestigious International Poetry Competition as well as a Young Person's competition annually, Charles Causley is a much-loved son of Launceston and the preservation of his legacy is of value to the local community as well as drawing visitors to the town.
