Story
Hello and welcome to my Justgiving page! I am running to support the fabulous, lifesaving charity The Anaphylaxis Campaign which was set up following the death of my cousin Sarah from anaphylactic shock after unknowingly eating a lemon meringue pie sprinkled with ground peanuts.
Update 6/9/2009
Thank you so much to everyone who has generously donated so far! I ran all the way round the course in 34 and a half minutes and had a brilliant day. It's not too late to sponsor me so if you haven't donated already please do - it's a really good cause as you can see below.
Why I'm supporting The Anaphylaxis Campaign
Since it was set up in 1994 The Anaphylaxis Campaign has completely changed things for people with severe allergies. While it can still be potentially fatal for someone with a severe nut allergy to even touch a nut, never mind eat it, the Campaign has completely changed the food industry's attitude to allergy, as well as that of the general public. Who hasn't seen the ubiquitous "contains nuts" warnings on food labels? (By the way, it doesn't have to be nuts - people can have anaphylactic reactions to lots of different substances including milk, eggs, soya and latex). But the Campaign still needs your donations to keep spreading awareness, running its helpline and training workshops, and keeping its members up to date with allergy alerts.
