I Did It - in 7 hours 39 mins and 37 seconds

I finished my first ever marathon. I took me longer than I wanted as I injured my knee at 3 miles, but I wasn't about to give up and I had to walk most of the remainder. I thoroughly enjoyed the day. The atmosphere was amazing and the crowds fantastic. I had a fantastic day and I intend to do it again (but not next year) and run it all.

For those of you who don't know me I have never run a marathon before and never did much running before I started training for the race for life last June. I started training for the marathon back in September and it has been a long and mainly enjoyable experience. For those of you who know me will know that it is not only a physical challenge in actually running the 26.2 miles but also a challenge in having to manage my insulin dependant diabetes which I have had since I was 13. In fact my diabetes is proving to be just as difficult to manage as the actual running. Having had a NHS nurse who I could turn to when I was newly diagnosed was brilliant and helped me cope. WellChild provide nurses to help children with allsorts of illnesses which is why I am running for them.
