Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for the 2014 Virgin London Marathon. 

I appreciate everyone thinks I'm slightly mad for even contemplating it, why? I have heard people ask many times (already!) and the answer is simple. As a runner, the ultimate achievement is completing a marathon (apart from those slightly crazy ultra-runners), and where better to do it than at the London Marathon. It is after all known worldwide for the amazing course and sights, and the brilliant nature of the support along the route.

Why have I chosen the Sailors’ Society? I’m a seafarer, I know more than most how hard it is working away from home, being in a foreign country with only a few hours off to yourself. The service that these guys offer worldwide to all seafarers, a friendly face and hospitality to everyone regardless of faith, nationality or rank is a lifeline to some.

I know in the current climate that day to day living is tough, so anything that you can spare is massively appreciated, not just by me to get me towards my goal, but by the thousands of merchant seamen who benefit from the support and help that the Sailors’ Society offers them.
