Story

Alex's Extreme Swim - Successfully Completed!

On Saturday 29 January - 7 years to the day since daughter Sophie had a life-saving heart operation at BCH - Alex Linley completed a 200m swim across Llyn Llydaw on Snowdon. With 90% of the lake frozen overnight by temperatures of -10C, this extreme challenge became even more extreme.

Alex completed a 200m swim in water of between 0C and 1C, across the only bay that was not totally frozen by ice of at least 3cm thick - and even then we had to break the ice to find a suitable entry and exit point - as the pictures show!

Alex completed this truly extreme swim as part of Capp's pledge to raise £20,000 for the Children's Heart Appeal at Birmingham Children's Hospital as our way of saying thank you.
