Story
All our many wheelchair dependent students have a long journey to benefit from an accessible play area. So, having a playground nearer to home that they can use and enjoy would make the world of difference.
At the moment, they need a bus and a driver to be available and, because there are no changing facilities at the venue, they have to travel to another venue for personal care. And they need to be well enough to travel which isn't always the case. All this means that outings to the playground are often cut short, or worse, cancelled. Meet Jack
Our students are very tolerant and understanding but seeing their disappointment can be heartbreaking. With their own playground on their doorstep, outdoor activities can more easily be part of their everyday routines - so a visit to the swings on the way to or from clinical appointments, and after school, just becomes normal.
It would also provide a platform for social interaction where students have greater opportunities to form fun and meaningful friendships with others. It can be a place where confidence can grow.
