Last year we slept out on the streets for a night to raise awareness for the people we worked with who were living in shells, not homes. This year we have decided on one of our biggest ventures yet. In light of recent events, we have felt a fighting spirit rising within us. We have realised that mental health difficulties underline MOST things we face at Via Wings.
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to get out of bed … to walk. As a staff team and with the help of volunteers, we are coming alongside one another to WALK IN HOPE, as a team of people who are passionate to raise awareness and spread the message that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. We are literally walking in their shoes.
From the 10th-13th August, we are walking from Dromore to Dublin, almost 100 miles. We are walking through towns and making connections with local mental health charities along the way. This is NOT about the distance we are walking. This is a symbolic representation of the struggle the people we work with, members of our friends and family and some of us, have to face every single morning. We want to encourage one another when the times are hard, or perhaps walk in place of someone who cannot walk any further.
We want as many people to get involved with this as possible! If you would like to walk with us, there are sponsor sheets available at Via Wings, Hope & Soul. If you are unable to walk, you can offer your support in a number of ways … by sponsoring, by donating items such as trainers, waterproofs etc, bringing food or do you have any contacts along our route which may be useful, or contacts in marketing and or promotion?
If you would like more information, do not hesitate to send us a private message, call into the shop, call us on 02892698378, or email Chelsey on fundraising@viawings.co.uk. We are so excited about this and really hope you are too!
