Story
Palestine refugees across the occupied Palestinian territory(oPt) continue to face continued Israeli occupation, repeated violations of human rights and recurring escalations of hostilities. The latest upsurge inviolence, that began late last year, now even affects East Jerusalem and other parts of the West Bank and has resulted in the highest number of casualties witnessed among West Bank Palestinians for more than a decade.
In the oPt, Palestine refugees are exposed every day to the lasting consequences of an occupation that is now approaching 50 years. In Gaza, they face a decade-long blockade, which defines every aspect of their lives. As a result of the continuing Israeli blockade, almost the entire population is dependent on aid to meet basic needs, as unemployment remains among the highest in the world.
UNRWA launched the opt emergency appeal to address the priority humanitarian needs of Palestine refugees in Gaza and West Bank in 2016.
