Story
Thank you so much for supporting the University Chorus Bridgewater Project.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the concert will not be able to go ahead as planned in May.
The University Chorus Bridgewater Hall concert is now planned for 2023.
The Chorus would like to use donations already made to support their future projects, such as their planned concert in 2023.
If you've donated to this campaign and don’t want your donation to be used in this way, please email crowdfunding@manchester.ac.uk by 2 June 2020 to request a refund.
If we don’t hear from you by then, we’ll take that to mean you’re happy with the plans for the funds raised – thank you.
The University of Manchester Chorus is an all-inclusive un-auditioned choir that brings together students, faculty of The University of Manchester, and the general public of the city. Communal singing is the best way to bring people together, and our choir has been doing just that - bringing people together since 1936.
This campaign is led by a group of students who are part of the Chorus. As a group we want to raise money for a concert to take place in the Bridgewater Hall in 2020.
So far in its history, the Chorus has only once put on a concert in the Bridgewater Hall - in 2009, with Britten’s War Requiem. Our 2020 concert will be a huge event for The University of Manchester and a mark in the city’s musical calendar.
The money raised will go towards paying for the rights to perform the music for the concert; hiring the Bridgewater Hall; organising for The University of Manchester Symphony Orchestra equipment to be moved and securing amazing soloists. Ticket sales will provide a small portion of what we aim to raise, but we really need to reach our target to be able to put on this concert.
Our concerts are of a very high standard, and the venue for this special performance should reflect that.
