Story
Following Jens Voigt’s Everest Challenge at the beginning of 2017, he has announced his next adventure.
The retired professional cyclist will once again be saying “Shut Up Legs” when he takes on Jensie’s Marathon Madness from 2-8 January 2018. The challenge will see Voigt run 7 marathons in 7 days.
Jensie’s Marathon Madness will raise funds and awareness for Tour de Cure, an organisation supporting the cure for cancer. The initiative is powered by Fitbit.
“After my Everest Challenge a while back, which was already a special achievement, this is something I want to do for two reasons,” Voigt said. “First and foremost, I was overwhelmed by the positive feedback for my Everest Challenge in the beginning of the year. I want to raise as much awareness and funds as possible for the fight against cancer.
The second reason is that I love to challenge my limits. I love to go above and beyond, trying to see what my body and mind are capable of. And what's a better way to do this than running 7 marathons within a week? It will possibly be the challenge that embodies my motto ‘shut up legs’ like nothing else I’ve ever done before.““Of course, people might think I’m crazy to do something like this. But hey, I never said I wasn‘t,” Voigt smiled.
The challenge is open to runners to join Jens for a round of 7km, 21km or a whole marathon – on any of the 7 days. The event will take place in Grunewald, Berlin. Jens will run from 12pm - 4pm daily.
