Story
The Big Cat Sanctuary has created Project Lion to raise funds for a variety of lion welfare and conservation activities, including covering the costs of moving African Lion Kasanga who joined us in April 2017 to a wonderful new home in the UWEC Conservancy in Uganda.
We are also working with The Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Kenya, raising money to sponsor GPS collars to put on members of their seven prides. By identifying individuals when a pride is found they can record whisker patterns, scars, ear tears and other characteristics, plus follow their range. The data collected goes straight to the ecological monitoring department helping find solutions to the challenges facing Laikipia’s lions and the communities sharing their habitat, and in turn combatting human/wildlife conflict.
Enrichment and welfare improvements are also needed for all our Lions onsite. A significant amount of the funds raised will be spent on giving African Lions Tiny and Kafara better access to roam their enclosures, as well as additional landscaping enrichments for all.

A BIG THANK YOU! We've had an amazing response from people, local primary schools, businesses, local festivals and visitors on our Annual Open Days that have helped us raise money offline. Thank you all so much for your support, which has enabled us to raise a large part of our aimed goal.
Any amount, large or small, will greatly assist us in achieving our conservation goal. Thank you.
