Sturts Community Trust is an exciting venture bringing together a range of social initiatives built around a vision of promoting sustainability. We have our base on Sturts Farm, a 90 acre working organic biodynamic farm on the outskirts of West Moors. As a Camphill Community, Sturts Farm has, for well over 30 years, been offering land-based work opportunities, individualised support and supported living for adults who have a learning disability.

Our vision is to promote opportunities in land-based activities, including on our farm, in our garden and by providing allotment spaces; opportunities for lifelong learning based around the themes of sustainability, food and the arts.

We are a small Charity who are looking to engage the local community to interact with adults with learning and with the founding of Gullivers Farm Shop we have seen how amazing this has grown with our weekly events, we see Sturts Community sitting, eating and talking to the wider community and this has been so magical to see. People are no longer worried about speaking with people with learning disabilities they now embrace this which has then helped showcase what we do here :)

During the winter months, with no place for customers to sit inside this has been quite a struggle. We are looking to plan an extension which will offer a small cafe/indoor seating area which would open up so many possibilities in the future to help bring the community together.

The fundraising will help with our extension but the wider reach would be Sturts Community Trust on a whole and help sustain the care for the Adults with Learning difficulties living and working very hard on the farm as this has given them so much purpose.
