Story
In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, the St. Croix Foundation for Community Development acknowledges the difficulties facing St. John, St. Thomas, and St. Croix over the coming months. With a firm commitment to community development, the St. Croix Foundation extends an invitation to donors around the world to support the relief and recovery efforts that are in place.
As a global family, we know that we must put forth our best effort to make communities feel safe, especially in the aftermath of devastating weather patterns that are among the worst that the western hemisphere has ever seen. We believe that with the community of friends, supporters, and donors around the world, we can begin putting lives, families, and communities back together. While the local authorities are assessing damage across the USVI and Caribbean Basin, we are putting in place some preliminary measures to support the relief effort.
The CARE (Caribbean Assistance and Relief Effort) Fund will provide direct support for front-line relief, rescue and recovery efforts undertaken by entities in the USVI and Caribbean Basin. The Foundation will collaborate with on-the-ground organizations that are delivering much needed services and goods, supplies, and equipment for much needed use throughout the USVI and sister islands, and this fund will support that effort for the immediate and long-term.
