Story
Children can often be ‘left behind’ when a parent or grandparent is dying. Children have their own way of coming to terms with their grief – and all too often we see that they suffer from a lack of specialist support.
St Clare Hospice care is about helping the whole family as well as the patient. But, we don’t have the resources to offer the same level of support to children as we do the adults in a family – and that’s a gap in our service we are desperate to close.
So, a key goal for the next year is to launch a dedicated Children’s Support and Bereavement team who will work with children of all ages, helping them to express their thoughts, fears and sadness.
A strong supporter of this appeal is Rebecca, who says "I know that this is a vital service – because I know what it feels like to see your children lose a parent, without having the support they need. I cannot urge you strongly enough to give this special charity your support."
