Story
Last year, over a 4 day period, our hostel manager spoke to over 50 people begging on the streets of Southampton. We found the majority of people who were street homeless, not only had housing problems, but many of them had severe physical or mental health problems, and 47 out of the 53 people we spoke to said they were dependent on drugs.
We'd like to raise £2,000 to provide an outreach worker, who can assist these vulnerable people to gain, and attend, appointments regarding issues such as health, benefits, housing and addictions and stop them slowly dying on the streets.
The average life expectancy for a rough sleeper is 47, this age is even younger for women, and is around 35 years fewer than the average person in our population.
If you would like to help us to support these vulnerable, local people with very complex needs, please make a donation to SSJ, today.
You can also make a text donation of up to £10. Text SOST10 and the amount you wish to donate to 70070.
Thank you!
