Story
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary, part of the SEA LIFE Trust marine conservation charity, is one of Europe’s busiest seal rescue and rehabilitation centres. Founder Ken Jones rescued his first seal pup on the beach at St Agnes in 1958 and this year the Sanctuary is celebrating its 60th anniversary!
The Sanctuary team provide expert care to rescued seal pups which have been injured, separated from their mothers, or which have encountered threats such as entanglement in marine litter. After spending time in the Sanctuary's seal hospital receiving vital treatment and care, once the pups are fully fit and well they are released back to their home in the ocean waves.
Since its founding, the Sanctuary has rescued and returned to the wild more than 3,000 abandoned, sickly or injured seal pups and has given residence and every day care to seals and sea lions in need of a permanent home.
Thanks to your donations and support, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary can continue its important work looking after seals in need of help, and giving them the very best chance of returning safely to the wild.
