Story
With your support SaTH Charity would like to raise £25,000 to help make the Royal Shrewsbury and the Princess Royal Hospital truly Dementia Friendly.
A donation of £8.00 can purchase a doll, which provides huge comfort for a mother missing her child. Easy to use special brightly coloured plates and bowls can be bought for £20 making it easier for patients to enjoy a meal. Niether can be funded through normal NHS channels.
With an estimated 6,000 people in our local communities living with dementia, and a quarter of our hospital beds occupied by patients with some form of dementia or confusion, it is really important that we provide the best experience possible for patients and their families.
The Trust needs as many people as possible from the community to help us with this appeal. So if you think you can help, no gesture is too small. Your donations will help make our wards and outpatients areas dementia friendly (e.g. signage, specialist clocks, reminiscence items, cutlery, ward activities etc.), and the development of Dementia Cafes at both sites.
If you would like more information on this appeal please contact the Governance and Membership Office on 01743 261473 or members@sath.nhs.uk
We hold Dementia Friendly Cafés monthly at each site. These are known as the Golden Moments Café at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Precious Times Café at Princess Royal Hospital. For a calendar view of the Café dates please view our dedicated events calendar.
