Story
Yesterday morning when opening our Rothwell shop, we were met with the devastating fact it had been broken into overnight, leaving significant damage: our till & screen, broken locks on doors, stolen collection tin & fire alarm damage. We were not able to open the shop and therefore lost valuable donations and money from shop sales. This is the third shop of ours in the last 2 months that has been targeted by thieves.
Our staff and volunteers in our charity shops work tirelessly in order to try and raise more money for the animals we care for, while so many of our supporters regularly donate and buy from our shops, so it’s utterly heartbreaking and demoralising when thieves target people that are trying to do something good in the community. We just don’t understand how someone could do this.
We are a completely self-funded branch and rely completely on our fundraising activities to help keep our animal centre open, so when appalling things like this happen, it is extremely frustrating and disheartening. Thousands of pounds of damage has been caused to the branch, plus vital time lost on sales whilst getting the shop ready again for our supporters. If you are able to donate any amount at all, to help us cover the costs of the damage to our shops, we would really appreciate it.
