Story

The team will be led by a fully qualified and experienced guide from "Get Outdoors" . Our Challenge is to climb  Yorkshire’s Highest Peaks.  Dominating the skyline above the western Yorkshire Dales, these spectacular and distinctively shaped fells tower over the surrounding moors and countryside of Settle, Clapham and Ingleton. In order to successfully complete the challenge, we have to conquer Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent, covering 39km and over 1700m of ascent within 12 hours…   The funds raised form this challenge will make a significant change to a child's life.

Being a child in a developing country like Sri Lanka and Nepal can be a dangerous and painful experience. A child in a country torn apart by the force of brutal nature is many times more vulnerable to exploitation, abuse and trafficking, especially a girl. Not only can their world literally be torn apart but also the devastation leaves no room for them to be children or to be nurtured and protected.     The Rosie May Foundation is partnered with local NGO’s in Sri Lanka and Nepal to work together on projects that have emerged in response to a number of life changing catastrophes including the 2004 Asian Tsunami and Earthquakes in Nepal in 2015, placing children, especially girls, more at risk. It is unsurprising then, loving parents, desperate to give their children a good education, find themselves vulnerable to traffickers and can be wrongly persuaded to give their children to an orphanage, with the promise of a better life for their children.     The Rosie May Foundation works directly on the ground in both Sri Lanka and Nepal to protect vulnerable children and prevent them being torn apart from their families through poverty. We aim to break the cycle of institutionalisation and keep children in loving family homes .
