Story
REACT volunteers are going to run 22km in East London in order to make a difference in the lives of those fleeing war and poverty. By donating now, you will support projects with vulnerable asylum seekers in the UK, Sicily, Jordan and Greece - giving refugees a chance to participate in society as equals through dignified opportunities. REACT is a volunteer organization where each donation goes directly to implementing grass root projects and addressing vital needs often identified as priorities by the recipients themselves.
REACT 2018 fundraising will: 1/ Support the training and upkeep of two youth workers who provide education and safe spaces for refugee girls in Amman Jordan. 2 / Directly fund a team of 24/7 volunteers at 'Sans Papiers’ (Without Documents), a grass root network in Sicily who provide urgent case relief to migrants and asylum seekers arriving by boats from Libya. 3 / A Legal Aid fund to support emergency court expenses challenging ‘imminent deportation’ orders on vulnerable refugees in Lesbos Greece. 4 / Offer small one off grants for asylum seekers caught in emergency predicaments in the UK - principally women survivors of trafficking and torture.
Since 2007, Refugee Education Across Conflict Trust, a UK registered and volunteers-run charity, has been successfully delivering education and emergency relief to those escaping conflict. We focus especially on vulnerable youth and women.
Last year, the REACT fundraising run helped deliver mobile Arabic and Farsi libraries in Greece and educational resources in Chad as well as safe play for urban refugee girls in Amman Jordan. We also provided single targeted grants to asylum seekers and migrants in the UK and Italy.
