Story
This is our big appeal of 2018 – to raise money to buy a new specialist extremity (arm and leg) MRI Scanner.
A Mini MRI Scanner will make patients much more comfortable whilst the scans take place. Rather than lie in an awkward position in a large MRI scanner, patients will be more comfortable with the Mini MRI Scanner.
It will also mean quicker overall diagnosis for patients by focusing specifically on arms and legs which frees up space on the other machines. There are around 250 scans a month that could take place on a Mini MRI Scanner; this would allow the current MRI scanners to carry out up to 15 extra scans a day on more complex body and spine examinations. Falls, sports injuries and degenerating joints will all be assessed with the Mini MRI Scanner.
Through supporting us in this appeal, you will be helping the patients and families of Dorset return to their everyday way of life sooner. The MRI Scanner will help greatly in both the comfort and speed of treating patients effectively meaning less time spent in the hospital and more at home.
With your help, we hope to reach our target of £300,000 as soon as possible to improve the experience of patients requiring MRI scans at Bournemouth Hospital.
