Story
Welcome to our campaign page in support of this year's Fan Dance challenge! RaksTrust was setup in memory of Flight Lieutenant Rakesh Chauhan and aims to raise money in support of the Air Ambulance and other charitable causes.
The Fan Dance will be a 12 mile walk along a circular route round part of Brecon Beacons National Park, including Wales’ highest peak Pen-Y-Fan. The walk is so named as it emulates the SAS training walk in the Brecon Beacons known as the Fan Dance.
The Fan Dance is our 4th annual fundraising event, with some of the funds raised going towards the Derbyshire, Rutland and Leicestershire branch of the Air Ambulance Service, which we have been supporting since the trust’s inception.
Recently we have started a new project with Love Support Unite (LSU) to fund an ambulance to send to Malawi. LSU is a grassroots charity in Malawi established in 2009 as a community project to house, educate and support Malawian orphans, it’s model of supporting communities has been replicated throughout Malawi.
The ambulance we are funding will be a fully kitted out 4x4 ex-armed forces Ambulance costing approximately £20,000 and will also incur a £600 annual running cost which the trust will fund over the life of the vehicle. The ambulance will help LSU double it’s ability to get sick and injured people to suitable care as quickly as possible.
With your help we hope to achieve and beat this year’s target of £9,000 Thank you again for all of your support.
