Story
We are in the heart of our local community, in Pilton, Edinburgh and have over 20000 contacts with children and young people accessing our services each year. The children and young people PYCP work with live within the top 5% of the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, 2016
With over 500 registered young people who benefit from our services. We provide a varied programme of activities that give them a safe space to talk to supportive workers, make friends, have respite from life’s challenges and above all have fun! We also offer additional support to those most in need through 1-1 support or group work. This helps young people learn more about themselves and develop skills so that they can better cope with challenges and have more chance of a successful future.
Very often the children in our community face neglect, harm and acute personal and social development challenges and a lack of positive peers to relate to. Additionally, children here are undiagnosed with mental health, autistic spectrum and learning disabilities, are looked after or become carers for their families: some 3 out of 5 local children are estimated to be fulfilling some form of caring role.
