In Oxfordshire, 30,000 people of pension age live alone. Around 40% of pensioner households have no access to a car. The chances of premature death are raised by a staggering 30% for those who are lonely.
In Oxfordshire, 616 children are on Child Protection Plans, and there are around 10,000 incidents of domestic abuse each year involving children. There are are an estimated 12,000 young carers looking after sick relatives with no support.
In Oxfordshire, around 7,000 people are living in unsuitable housing. 200 households are living in temporary accommodation, and the number of rough sleepers is increasing every week.
Oxfordshire Community Foundation (OCF) believes that these are unacceptable social problems in a county that benefits from such wealth and privilege. OCF's Health and Wellbeing Fund aims to address these problems by making grants to charities and community groups working directly with people affected by these issues.
