Story
Osteoporosis is a fragile bone disease that affects an estimated three million people in the UK. The condition causes painful, debilitating and sometimes fatal fractures, particularly of the wrist, hip and spine. 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men, over the age of 50, will break a bone, mainly because of poor bone health.
The National Osteoporosis Society is the only UK-wide charity dedicated to improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and fragility fractures. The Charity offers free support and information to people affected by the condition, including a help-line that receives more than 13,000 enquiries a year.
