Story
Again we see the return of our popular Run to Remember, a virtual run you can do anytime or anywhere.
2 miles per day every day for 100 days (beginners option available) take 20 mins out your day to go for that run, shuffle jog, dad or mum run... and remember all the innocent victims of this dreadful act of murder but more importantly do something positive for those children left behind.
Unfortunately the majority of murders are described as 'domestic' where one parent takes the life of the other leaving behind children with no parents.
Leaving behind an uncertain future with no or very little opportunities for a better life.
This year we will be concentrating on two areas:
We are helping children in many practical ways and now we are building on a network of EMDR therapy providers that we can refer children to as quickly as possible without a waiting list or budget constraints form GP's etc.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) is a pioneering therapy that is having positive results in children suffering from trauma on the scale of witnessing such horrendous crimes.
Research also shows that coupled with mindfulness it could make a huge difference to a childs future mental health in such circumstances.
We are also launching a joint project with a local equine therapy team that will provide support to children suffering from the effects of trauma. Again research as shown how effective this type of interaction can be.
All we ask is you sign up, 'run' the 2 miles per day and raise just £1 per day (don't forget the gift aid).
So many people have joined us over the past 4 years and made a difference to the lives of these children and even lost weight and become fitter!!
What have you got to lose besides a pound a day and a few inches from your waistline??
