Newton Poppleford Primary School, in the heart of rural East Devon, is over 130 years old. The old school house is no longer fit for purpose and a new school is currently being built on the existing school site. Although the cost of the new building is being funded by the Education Funding Agency,  funding does not cover the cost of many new items needed in the school that cannot be transferred out of the old school or which have been declared as not fit for purpose.

Funding is required for a huge number of things including: a stage for performances in the new bigger hall; various pieces of gym equipment; furniture for the school reception area and staff room; display boards for communal areas; new signage; outdoor play equipment; shelter and shading for the new playground; playground markings; an outdoor class room for Early Years; curtains or classroom window blinds plus much more.

The PTFA has set a challenge to raise at least £10,000 towards these costs and aims to achieve this through a number of fund raising initiatives.  

A selection of year 6 students will be participating in the Exmoor walking challenge next spring, we will be holding local sponsored activities for all the school children to take part in, a selection of parents & teachers will be running in a 10 km race in March 2018 and many individual parents are doing their own personal challenges. This is in addition to our usual fund raising activities which include our Christmas and summer fetes as well as our ‘Pudding and Quiz’ night and our recent involvement on the local Guy Fawkes night event in our village.

We need the local community, local businesses, parent, friends and family to help support these fund raising events.
