Story
Earlier this year I was in Nepal where I saw the amazing work that Mondo Foundation has been doing since the devastating earthquake 2 years ago. The small Mondo 'HELP' team in Nepal has overseen the construction of 8 brand new schools in remote areas of Northern Nepal.
Most of the children who attend these schools have to walk for up to 2 hours a day, each way. Girls are particularly vulnerable and to prevent abuse (including trafficking) and dropping out of school, Mondo has therefore built 3 hostels so girls can stay in the school. I visited one of these hostel in Timbu in July 2017 and made a short film which you can see here
To raise this money I'm taking part in the 'Walk for Nepal' event on the 16th September and any support you can give to help me reach my target would be wonderful. I want to ensure that these girls not only get the shelter they need, but the wider care and training a female hostel manager will provide.
Any donation will help and if we exceed this target we will direct the additional sums raised to Mondo's scholarship programme which provides funding to 50 students a year.
I have also written an article for Huffington post which you can read here
Mondo was successful at raising funds for the building construction (around £58,000), and we now need to raise funds to employ a full-time hostel manager for 2 years (£2,400) as well as provide basic furniture for each of the 8 dormitories. (approximately £80 per room).
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. JustGiving will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to Mondo Foundation which is a registered charity. If you pay tax you can also add 'gift-aid' to your donation.
Thank you so much for any donation you can make.
