Story
How long does it take to change a habit? Approximately 30 days…
In 2013, Mission Rabies launched in India where a third of all human rabies cases occur. Our first campaign, run by vets, vet nurses and volunteers from 14 countries, achieved over 60,000 dog vaccinations across 12 locations in India, in just 30 days!
Following WHO guidelines, we run mass canine vaccination programmes tackling the disease at the source. Today we maintain permanent vaccination teams and run education programs in Malawi, India, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.
Mission Rabies have one mission: eliminate rabies by 2030.
Last year we celebrated two amazing milestones - half a million dogs vaccinated and over one million children educated about rabies risk control.
As a result of our work the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Malawi, has gone from having the highest incidence record of child rabies deaths from a single institution in Africa, to having 1 death in 2016.
Not bad for a 30 day project, right?
Now it’s over to you.
We want you to commit to a 30-day challenge. Perhaps you could brave going full vegan for a month. Or you could ditch the car and cycle to work. Why not fundraise for 30 days? Maybe it’s time you started to learn one French word everyday...non?
The #Zeroby30 challenge will start on World Rabies Day, 28th September 2017, and you’ll have 30 days to complete it.
Our team (and some special supporters) will be doing the challenge throughout September so make sure you follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates.
Don't worry, if fundraising isn't for you then you can donate to this campaign… every penny helps and will go directly towards helping us continue and expand our projects.
If you need any help along the way then contact us at Carly@wvs.org.uk.
Rabies causes the deaths of around 61,000 people a year. We're making a difference, but we can't do it alone!
Thanks for your support!
