The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileWe are trying to do something different to raise funds. We are asking for your help to improve the lives of Kenyan children with congenital heart disease and to help restore sight for blind people in isolated areas, such as the Samburu area where we are walking.
The MEAK eye story: Africa has more blind and visually impaired people than any other region in the world. The majority of this blindness is caused by the development of cataracts, which can be treated with cataract surgery.Despite improvements in Kenyan health services, the number of blind people is increasing, especially in the rural and isolated parts of the country.
These difficult to reach, remote areas are often considered 'out of the comfort zone' of most charities, but not for MEAK - we have been regularly operating in these parts of Kenya since 2003.The MEAK story of children's hearts: In Kenya, over 15,000 babies are born each year with a heart defect. Care options are very limited - forcing the wealthiest families to go overseas for their child's cardiac surgery and leaving very few options for the children of poorer families.
MEAK is committed to helping these poorer children and families by providing quality cardiology care and surgery for children from all over Kenya. All for free. How you can help?
