Story
The Mace Foundation are excited to be working with Macmillan Cancer Support as our new Charity of the Year partner for 2018.
Macmillan Cancer Support exists to help improve the lives of people affected by Cancer- those personally affected, their families, carers and communities. Macmillan support all ages and are the only charity that offer support with all cancers. They offer practical, emotional, financial, medical and personal support to those who need it. The Mace Foundation have kicked off this partnership with a £15K donation.
It costs £28 to fund a Macmillan nurse for an hour, so this year, The Mace Foundation are encouraging Mace employees to band together and support Macmillan's initiative to "Power an Hour" for Macmillan nurses and make a real difference to people living with cancer.
The Mace Foundation will be championing three leading campaigns to hit this target:
1. The first campaign is the launch event on 15 March with a fundraising initiative #GoGreen, asking our staff to wear a green themed outfit for the day.
2. We will also be advocating the "Just Say the Word" campaign, raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer, especially for men through toolbox talks; lunch and learn sessions; online information and workshops.
3. 28 September, we will be spearheading the famous "World's Biggest Coffee Morning" in all our hubs worldwide!
There are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and as more people live longer with their cancer, this number is set to grow to 4 million by 2030. Help Macmillan continue with their work in supporting those who need it, in helping those affected by cancer feel more in control of their lives.
