We need your help more than ever
2025 will be the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth. We would like to raise at least £250,000 to enable us to restore her precious home.
We need your help to enable us to preserve the house where Jane created Emma Woodhouse and Mr Knightley, Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth and where she perfected Elizabeth Bennet, Mr Darcy, Catherine Morland and the Dashwoods. From major structural work on the bowing front wall to repairing windows and redecorating interiors, your donation is vital to help us protect the house for future generations.
If you love Jane Austen and want to help us honour her memory by securing this most treasured Austen site, please donate to Jane’s Fund.
Jane Austen’s House Museum is the house where Jane Austen lived and wrote her six novels and is the most treasured Austen site in the world. It was her home for the last eight years of her life and where she completed all her celebrated works, sitting at the small walnut writing table, now on display in the Dining Parlour.
We have made every effort to take great care of Jane’s precious home but time takes its toll and recent surveys have revealed that vital building repairs are required to ensure that the fabric of the Grade I Listed house does not deteriorate further. The house is also home to a roosting bat population meaning all work must be planned and approved to conservation standards.
Why not consider donating your next Jane Austen £10 note to Jane’s Fund and make a difference today. Those able to give £1000 or more will be entitled to a private tour of the House.
