The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileThe work is all part of an ongoing collaborative project, developed between The Aspinall Foundation, Kent County Council Early Years and Child Care Service, and SchemaPlay that is focused more generally upon promoting Education for Sustainable Citizenship in Early childhood Education across the County.
The Greater Bamboo lemur is one of the most threatened of all lemurs, and one of the rarest primates in the world. This species is only found in Madagascar. Work carried out by The Aspinall Foundation has already helped remove the Bamboo Lemur from the list of the 25 most endangered primates in the world, for the first time in a decade.
However, the latest population estimate is still around 1,000 individuals. The Foundation is working closely with local communities and schools to protect over half the known wild population of the Greater Bamboo lemur. Local rangers, funded by donations, are monitoring over 25 groups on a weekly basis.
The children are aiming to raise funds to support our campaign to save the lemurs in Madagascar.
£3,000 would pay for an additional six lemur patrollers to be employed for a year.
£500 would pay for 25 raincoats and 25 pairs of boots for our lemur patrollers and
£250 would buy 200 educational posters for schools and communities in our project zones.
With your help, we can save these amazing animals from extinction. Thank you!
