The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileAccess to health services by rural people in Teso in Eastern Uganda is poor and as a result, a lot of people suffer and die needlessly from preventable diseases.
About 75% of the disease burden in Uganda is due to preventable causes. For example, 16 women die daily from child-birth related complications. In Teso, 80% of diseases are due to preventable causes. However, community health services to prevent diseases and promote health are not adequate.
To improve the health status of poor and marginalised rural communities that we serve, IWA UK is working in partnership with IWA Uganda to establish Mobile Community Outreach Clinics in the Teso region.
The outreach clinics will use a purpose built mobile clinic vehicle with a laboratory, dental facility, eye facility, and examination room. In addition, it will have a pharmacy and e-health facilities where staff in the field connect with specialists at the facility.
We are appealing to you to support us to buy and ship this vehicle.
