Story
The foodbank receives donations of food supplies to put into the food parcels we provide using our community partners and voucher system, we also receive cash donations to help us purchase additional food stocks when donations are stocks are low, and to contribute towards our operating costs.
In the last year (Jul 2019-Jun 20) we helped 4,625+ people from 575 different families with food and saw a 32% increase in demand for support over the previous year. At certain times during the year we are often giving out more food than the donations we receive, this is where cash donations help us re-address the balance and ensure we are able to supply families with a balanced selection of food items, and to keep our warehouse stocked with enough food to meet demand.
In the same period we received 45.5 tonnes of donations, 22.3 coming in during the spring lockdown, which is not far off double what we'd see in a 'normal' year. All from local individuals, businesses and community organisations, and during this time we gave away the equivalent of 87,120 plates of food, with 30,240 being given away during April-June 2020 alone.
Thank you for helping us to help others.
