Story
We’ve teamed up with award-winning garden designer, Bunny Guinness, to transform the area around the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries, creating a beautiful garden sanctuary for patients and their families. Bunny's designs include a spectacular garden room so patients can enjoy the garden whatever the weather. There will be a fabulous greenhouse within a garden therapy area.
Patients will be able to come to the garden in beds and wheelchairs to find peace in the tranquil surroundings, with planting chosen to give ever-changing colour and attract birds and butterflies.
Patients with spinal cord injuries spend a long time in hospital. There is much evidence that gardens and gardening have a positive effect on a person’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
The Midland Centre for Spinal Injury at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital serves a wide region including North Wales, Shropshire, Cheshire, West Midlands and North Herefordshire. Thank you for helping bring this incredible project to life.
