The deltaic islands or chars, of Bangladesh are some of the most remote regions of the country, far from infrastructure or access to public services of any kind. As such, the living conditions and circumstances for the people there are some of the poorest.
Zakat is obligatory for all Muslims with wealth and means above nisaab, and every discerning Muslim would want their 2.5% to be used effectively and meaningfully. Friendship works to improve the lives of the most unaddressed, and as such any all assistance that they receive is essential. The zakat fund is used in strict adherence to Islamic Shariah and will serve to greatly benefit the recipients who are woefully marginalized.
Our zakat fund goes towards health and education, providing, essential healthcare to those who have no options and the light of education to impoverished children.
The first allows for expert doctors and surgeons to provide urgent and life-saving medical attention to people who have never had any modern healthcare to speak of, and are often robbed of able-bodied, productive lives because easily treated conditions and injuries. Friendship’s approach is multi-tiered, integrated, sustainable and incredibly effective, life changing, and most importantly, life-saving.
The second provides ICT-enabled, unique and innovative education solutions to children of all ages, allowing them a chance at a for a fulfilling life with opportunities that allow them to improve their circumstances by their own merit. Not only does this allow a realization of self-worth, but their public examination results speak for themselves, with grades far outpacing national averages.
