Story
Update; At the end of November we collected a tiny donkey foal and another young donkey, in a traumatic rescue. Our horse lorry broke down miles from home and two frightened donkeys had to be swapped into a trailer by the side of a busy main road on a dark, stormy night...
The tiny foal, Paddington, was very sick and collapsed on arrival. The second young donkey, who we have named Penny, was very thin and worried. Shockingly, Little Paddington is only around 7 weeks old and far too young to be weaned or separated from his mother - just heart-breaking.
Paddington is very undernourished, has a serious eye infection and will need treatment for lice and rainscald.
On top of our £4,000 per month winter feed bills, we must now find the funds to cover the costs of the urgent veterinary care and milk formula that Paddington needs. After the breakdown, we've also had a quote of £4,400 to replace the gearbox on our horse lorry, which is vital to our work.
Please donate to help us give Paddington and our other special needs donkeys the extra special care they need - we can't do it without your generous support.
Our hay, haylage & straw costs alone total almost £30,000 per year, but special feed, supplements & medications are also vital in keeping our elderly and special needs donkeys and horses safe, healthy and happy. Older donkeys, like Marybelle, need extra, high-calorie feeds packed with vitamins and minerals. Others, like Tickety-Boo, have ongoing dental issues, so require special, palatable feeds to maintain good condition. As well as carefully managed diets, some of our residents also take expensive medications & supplements, like Peter the pony, who has Cushing's disease.
Over the coming months, straw, hay and haylage will cost us £675 per week, bags of special feed £180, pain killing medication £50, Cushings medication £30 and supplements up to £200... this TOTALS OVER £1000 PER WEEK!
Please help us - we can't do it without you.
