John was an inspiration to many, donating his time and skills voluntarily for the past 25 years to the ExtraCare Charitable Trust, which offers housing, care and support to people in later life.

Visit the charity's profileAlways interested in people and what they have to offer, John had a passion for collating and documenting the histories and stories of older people and sharing them in his own inimitable, journalistic way with the communities that choose to make ExtraCare their home. John had the ability to see the beauty in everything and everyone. He was an avid listener, a brilliant photographer and could tell a good tale too, so much so that we can say without doubt that he was perfectly suited to his role in Public Relations and Marketing.
John will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched, friends, family, loved ones and colleagues. There will only ever be one John Cleaver because quite simply, he was Mr ExtraCare.
