Running 26.2 miles is an enormous challenge. It's a huge test of strength and endurance and even the most elite of runners can encounter problems along the way including blisters, dehydration, fatigue, heat exhaustion, gastro-intestinal problems and a multitude of injuries. However, donkeys and mules supporting some of the poorest people and communities in the world endure these problems every day of their lives!
In the brick kilns of Nepal and India donkeys face a lifetime of labouring under heavy loads of bricks in the blistering heat. Despite soaring temperatures, they often work long hours with little food, water or rest. With agonising wounds from ill-fitting harnesses and numerous injuries caused by the burden of their heavy loads, they work until they are to exhausted to continue and literally collapse.
Please support our runners and donate what you can. Every penny raised will enable us to alleviate the suffering and neglect of donkeys and mules like this worldwide. Thank you!
