Story
DanceSyndrome is a local charity based in the North West of England. We provide inclusive dance workshops and leadership training for people with and without disabilities. Our dancers also perform live at special events across the UK with the aim of inspiring people and demonstrating that people with disabilities can live a life of their choosing and follow their dreams.
All our dance activity is led and informed by people with learning disabilities. DanceSyndrome activities give people confidence, respect, value and self-belief through our philosophy of ‘anything is possible even though you have a learning disability’.
Donations enable us to help people to improve their confidence, communication skills and their health, as well as providing a vital opportunity for having fun, being happy, building friendships and developing careers for people often excluded from mainstream dance.
In 2017, we also want to raise money to enable our team of dancers to perform our "Orbit" performance piece at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This is a huge opportunity for our dancers to shine on an international stage! Performance is a vital way for DanceSyndrome's members to communicate key messages about inclusion, teamwork and achievement, as we challenge audience perceptions about people with learning disabilities. Audiences will be surprised and delighted at the passion, energy and ability of our incredible dancers who have overcome so many personal barriers to achieve their potential. But to make this a reality we need to raise funds to cover the expenses of getting our full team and their support up to Edinburgh.
We appreciate all of your support and are grateful for all donations!
Thanks, from all of the DanceSyndrome team
