Story
DanceSyndrome is a small local charity based in North West England. We provide inclusive dance workshops & leadership training for people with and without disabilities. Our dancers also perform live at special events across the UK with the aim of inspiring people and demonstrating that people with disabilities can live a life of their choosing and follow their dreams.
In 2017, our dancers followed their dreams and performed our "Orbit" performance piece at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This was a huge opportunity for our dancers to shine on an international stage! Performance is a vital way for our dancers to communicate messages about inclusion, teamwork and achievement, as we challenge audience perceptions about people with learning disabilities. Audiences at the festival were surprised and delighted at the passion, energy and ability of our incredible dancers who have overcome so many personal barriers to achieve their potential.
The DanceSyndrome team had an amazing experience in Edinburgh, learning lots about the performance industry, including how to successfully promote their own show to get a good audience. They did a brilliant job and now feel confident that they are able to do an even bigger trip to the 2018 Fringe! This confidence and ambition is inspiring and we really want to enable them to turn it into a reality.
Our dancers will be taking fundraising into their own hands and hope to generate the money needed to fund the cost of the rehearsal process, performance space, performance marketing, travel and accommodation for themselves and their carers/support.
If you would like to support the 2018 trip to Edinburgh, you can donate to this appeal directly, or find out more from the individual dancers about their own unique fundraising efforts.
We appreciate all of your support and are grateful for all donations!
