CANCER RESEARCH WALES ARE DELIGHTED TO BE TEAMING UP WITH JT EXPEDITIONS, TO TAKE ON ICELAND FOR THE FIRE AND ICE EXPEDITION!
On Monday 2nd September 2019 you will travel to one of Europe’s most fascinating countries, to take on a challenge that will leave lifelong memories.Iceland is famous for its large glaciers, hot springs, geysers and volcanoes. From multi-coloured mountains and hot springs, to fumaroles and glaciers, it has it all.
This is your chance to tackle a challenge whilst raising funds to support our world-class cancer research projects. The trail takes 4 days to complete, covering distances of between 16km and 24km per day, whilst sleeping in tents at campsites along the way. The trekking varies, as some days may be spent ascending ancient extinct volcanoes and lava spills, whereas others may involve walking along a diverse range of flat and undulating terrains, allowing you to take in the stunning scenery that surrounds you. There are also several river crossings throughout the trek adding to both the excitement and adventure of this self-sufficient expedition.
After 4 hard days of trekking in Iceland’s wilderness, you will have the opportunity to relax in what is regarded by National Geographic as “one of the ten wonders of the world”, the Blue Lagoon.
Alongside experiencing one of the new wonders of the world and trekking across volcanoes, you will also be helping us in our fight for a Wales without cancer, by fundraising for this epic adventure.
