Story
We are delighted to have been chosen as the Rotary’s associated charity for the Forest of Dean Half Marathon event which will take place on the 7th of April 2018.
Along with other runners, a team of ten intrepid and committed employees of Crossroads Care have volunteered to run in the event and raise money towards helping some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
The Children and Young Adults service will use the monies to help fund their weekly Skills & Training Clubs for young people aged 8-16 with Autism Spectrum Disorders who cannot access mainstream school clubs or activities because of their disability. These young people will learn confidence, life skills, how to keep safe, how to interact with others, how to manage in their community independently and appropriately, get back into school and be part of society. For more details on our skills clubs please see the following link.
Another item we will be fundraising for is a Raizer Chair.
The Raizer Chair will enable us to provide a service to people who may have had a fall in their own home. This chair will then help a person who has had a fall to get back to a sitting or almost standing position in only a few minutes, after they have been checked for injuries, relieving the pressures on the local ambulance services.
Supporting us is easy, you can host your own fundraising event, sponsor us, make a donation or simply share our page with friends and family. We’re all extremely thankful got your support. We will keep you updated on how the training is going!
